As the dominating religion in the area, it is not hard to see why Islam has the biggest influence on culture in Middle East. Islam has been sustaining the domination in the area for nearly 1500 years, so it has taken the hold of daily routines as well as clothing.
The Islamic clothing is compulsory in some countries such as the abaye in the Arab Emirates, however in most countries the tradition is sustained only in cases of the traditional ceremonies like funarals or weddings.
The women are usually supposed to wear long and loose clothing covering the whole body. The reason behind this kind of clothing lies beneath the versicles of the Quran emphasizing that covering the body means to be modest, or decent in other words.
However it’s controversial what “modesty” requires according to Qur’an, nevertheless the authorities agree that women’s covering their body is a reqiurement for Islam. Here are some examples of clothing in Islam.
